What Everyone Should Know About Radon Gas

People go about their daily chores, oblivious to the fact that exposure to radon gas in their homes can lead to fatal health problems. It has been pitted against carbon monoxide poisoning because just like the latter, it is a silent killer. In fact, studies show that there are more deaths resulting from prolonged exposure to this radioactive gas. As a result of uranium decaying, it can make its way into your house and gets trapped there. That is why it is important to get your house tested by buying test kits or have it done by a professional to ensure accuracy.

Radon gas can get into the house in every possible way without you ever detecting it. When you opt for long term testing, it can take as long as 90 days but it would also be the most accurate. Take time to study the benefits of long and short term testing so that you can decide which way to go. Once it is confirmed that you have a high level of radon gas exposure in your residence, look into mitigation techniques and systems to reduce that risk. Consequently, you do not have to sell your house, as the system would be able to eliminate it completely and effectively.

The Principles Of Drainage

Drainage seems like a relatively simple infrastructure to implement, and of course, it is. However, the underlying principles that govern the behaviour of water on an agricultural surface require some careful understanding.

All soiled ground will have a subsurface water level, known in the field as the “water table”. The ground, very much like the skin, is porous. The mineral particles, and organic matter are clumped loosely together allowing space for both air and water to propagate through. This can be affected by various factors such as ground composition, compaction as the result of wheeled traffic and so on. Ground flooding will occur as a result of two things firstly, the level of the water table exceeding actual ground level, or compaction eliminating the capacity for moisture penetration.

The former essentially implies that the ground is at saturation point it has reached its capacity to absorb water. This is the ideal candidate for effective drainage. Ordinary drainage supplies, such as pipes and channels are designed to decrease the water table level, therefore increasing the amount of water that can be absorbed and leaving the surface of the ground dry and firm. This is done by using subterranean piping to provide a channel for water above a certain height to drain easily into the pipework and run elsewhere, usually into a drainage ditch.

Eco Friendly Home Products

Ever thought of buying eco friendly clothes pegs ? The peg is perhaps the most ignored small household item.

Eco friendly product options

In today’s world, managing our eco footprint contributes to overall environmental conservation. Buying eco friendly pegs is one way to achieve this. The peg is perhaps the most ignored of household items because we don’t give it much thought. Most often, people just dash to the local store and buy whichever pegs are available. But if you have kids, you might want to reconsider the pegs you buy.

Eco friendly pegs

Eco friendly pegs do more than just help protect the environment. For parents, eco friendly pegs can also mean safety for your kids. Kids will most often chew and play with pegs. Having eco friendly pegs means the risk of chemicals or dangerous ingredients is removed. Most traditional pegs were manufactured using harmful plastics and ingredients. Continued chewing can expose your kid to serious health complications. Going “green” with wooden pegs saves both the environment and safeguards your kid’s health.

Why wooden or recycled pegs

Perhaps it’s important to point out that not all plastic pegs pose a health risk to kids. There are recycled eco friendly plastic pegs that are safe for both the environment and kids. However, the wooden peg is the ultimate eco friendly peg.
