Aspergillus diagnosis

Assessment of Aspergillus spp. by real-time PCR amplification and detection of fungal genomic DNA from blood and/or plasma in consecutive clinical samples has been proposed as a reliable indicator of fungal infection. Qualitative PCR might become an important tool for pre-emptive disease management, i.e. early diagnosis, choice of relevant treatment and continued monitoring for the presence of invasive infection, in patients at risk for acquiring Aspergillus infection.
