HBV Disease
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is one of several viruses known to cause viral hepatitis. HBV infection occurs throughout the world and leads to a chronic carrier state in approximately 10% of affected individuals. To date at least 400 million people are chronic carriers world wide. A subset of these carriers will develop chronic active hepatitis with a need for antiviral therapy, or in severe cases the need for liver transplantation.
