Cp/Mp disease

Chlamydophila pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae) is a respiratory pathogen that causes both upper and lower respiratory tract disease. Pneumonia and acute bronchitis are the most frequently recognised lower respiratory tract disease associated with C. pneumoniae infection. In addition to respiratory tract infections, C. pneumoniae has been associated with asthma and cardiovascular diseases. C. pneumoniae infections appear to be most common among school-aged children.

Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) pneumonia is classically referred to as atypical pneumonia, presenting as an illness of gradual onset associated with headache, myalgias, sore throat and initially, dry cough ,. M. pneumoniae pneumonia is most prevalent in children and young adults. Epidemics of M. pneumoniae infection occur every 3-7 years and 10 to 30% of community acquired pneumonias (CAP) are due to M. pneumoniae.
